DESIGN ON THE TRACKS 2023

I was so excited to come across an instagram post for what appeared to be a vintage design festival set against the backdrop of an abandoned train track venue. Could it get more Chicago than that?
I convinced my friends to join and we made the drive out to Lawndale. Walking in, I realized this was going to be better than I could have ever imagined. The layout was arranged in an open-concept, booth style environment, with each booth representing a separate business.
I had such blast taking photos at this event. There was natural light pouring in from a magnificent sunroof, casting a warm glow over the entire space.
What truly stole the show for me was the abundance of rare 60s and 70s Italian seating scattered throughout the venue. One standout piece was the absolutely incredible and undeniably sexy deep green Italian leather sofa showcased below.
This event not only perfectly showcases the immense amount of creative talent residing in Chicago, but also demonstrates the collaborative spirit and close-knit community among vintage business owners in the city. I’m immensely grateful for stumbling upon that Instagram post, and I eagerly anticipate next year’s edition.
